Building knowledge and inspiring positive management of grazing land.

  • About

    Paddock Botanicals

Helping you to understand what makes your paddock ecology tick,

and support your journey towards more informed land management.

Often the missing link in landscape rehabilitation is the knowledge of the intricate processes.

I work with you to building a foundation of this knowledge of pastures, weeds and livestock.

    It is a facinating journey.

The reward of biodiverse landscapes that grow nutritious feed is a healthy grazing property.

  • About Me

I am Kathy Mapleson, an experienced Agronomist and Land Management Consultant.

I spent many years teaching and

    inspiring students doing tertiary

    studies in Agriculture Science and

    Equine Management.

My seminars and property walks over 30 years continue to be popular ways to learn about

    grassland ecology.

I learned to make pasture improvements with limited resources .

Roles with the seed industry as well as undertaking my own pasture research, gave me an intimate insight into grasses, legumes and herbs, and what they need to thrive.

Running livestock and observing grazing behaviour in diverse environments, has broadened my knowledge.

  • Why it Matters

Our Animals Thrive in Biodiverse Paddock Ecosystems

    Reason 1

The more we understand, the better we can apply Mother Nature's principles.

So let's build the knowledge to keep grassland systems healthy.

    Reason 2

Even more tragic than land degradation itself,

is when land managers desperately seek answers but find none.

    Reason 3

Livestock in flogged-out paddocks are probably as miserable as they look.

    Reason 4

We have the opportunity to really make a difference.

And besides, it is a great life.
